Frank Schmitt

Founder and CEO

As our Founder and CEO, Frank spends his time collaborating with the leadership team, managing relations, developing strategies, managing financials, and assisting with program design, oversight and compliance. As a person in long term recovery, Frank is personally invested in helping others and finds joy in watching others recover. He is also passionate about family work and enjoys providing a space for loved ones to begin the healing process.

Nick Borges, LCSW, LCDC

Clinical Director and COO

As our Clinical Director and Chief Operating Officer, Nick ensures that each resident receives personalized care that addresses the underlying factors contributing to their addiction, while providing strategic direction and day-to-day management of Heartwood Recovery. Driven by his passion for helping individuals reclaim their lives from the grips of addiction, Nick is committed to empowering men to realize their full potential and embrace a future filled with hope and resilience.

Zane Harvell, RSPS

Director of Recovery Services

As our Director of Recovery Services, Zane demonstrates a steadfast commitment to assisting individuals as they work towards sobriety and overall health.  Drawing from his own experiences with addiction, Zane is passionate about offering guidance and empowering others to lead healthier, more fulfilling lives.  When he’s not working, Zane enjoys spending time with his pitbull, attending live music events, and exploring various fitness activities.

Taylor Aselage

Director of Admissions

With nearly nine years of sobriety and a strong connection to the recovery process and community, Taylor brings a deep understanding and firsthand experience of the challenges individuals face in their journey towards recovery. In her role as Lead Admissions Coordinator, Taylor ensures that every individual and family receives the guidance, resources, and advocacy needed to navigate the admissions process. Taylor believes that there is hope for everyone and finds few things in life more rewarding than watching a person rediscover themselves and build a life beyond their expectations. During her own recovery journey, Taylor has developed a passion for travel and scuba diving, recognizing the importance of broadening one’s horizons.

Que Manning

Director of Nursing

Que is a passionate and dedicated recovery nurse with over a decade of experience providing high quality care to her patients.  She is committed to making a positive impact on individuals’ lives during their journey to wellness. She is enthusiastic about her nursing profession and grateful for the opportunity to help others every day. 

Cori Choate, LCDC

Primary Clinician

Cori Choate is a dedicated clinician with a profound passion for assisting clients on their journey toward recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. With a compassionate and caring approach, Cori meets clients holistically, recognizing and respecting where they are in their healing process. By providing personalized support and guidance, Cori helps clients find a beginning pathway to recovery in the therapeutic journey, empowering them to navigate challenges and embrace positive change. With a commitment to holistic care and unwavering empathy, Cori is dedicated to fostering healing and transformation in the lives of those struggling with addiction.

Ty Davis, LCDCI

Primary Clinician

As a Case Manager at Heartwood, Ty is actively involved in our residents’ recovery process, both during their stay and in preparing them for their post-treatment transition. In his role, Ty leads clinical groups and provides individual support in various areas such as life skills, education, and employment. Ty’s firsthand experience with recovery highlights the importance of a robust aftercare plan, and our objective is to ensure that every client has a solid foundation in place before they complete their treatment at Heartwood.

Sebastian Gonzalez, LPC-A, LCDC

Primary Clinician

Sebastian is a bilingual clinician dedicated to providing compassionate, personalized care to individuals facing life’s toughest challenges. Using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and other therapeutic modalities, he helps clients work through anxiety, relationship struggles, addiction, and emotional burnout. Sebastian is committed to creating a supportive space where every client feels heard, understood, and empowered to move forward

Andrew Weeks, LCDCI

Primary Clinician

Andrew Weeks is a clinician at Heartwood Recovery, where he supports men in residential treatment for substance use and co-occurring mental health challenges. His clinical approach integrates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS), helping clients cultivate emotional resilience, clarify values, and reconnect with a sense of purpose in recovery.

Before entering the field of mental health, Andrew spent over two decades working in high-performance environments as a certified athletic trainer in professional athletics and Division I college programs. This experience informs his grounded, relational style, offering clients a balance of structure, empathy, and real-world perspective.

Andrew is currently pursuing a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and is in training to become a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT). He is also a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor Intern (LCDC-I) and brings the depth of lived experience through his own long-term recovery journey.

Ryan Rogers

Clinical Intern

Ryan is a Clinical Intern at Heartwood Recovery. He was driven to work in the treatment industry based on his own journey with recovery. He believes in treating every client with empathy and compassion, but also pushes them to be the best version of themselves. Ryan leads process groups and works individually with clients. He also leads a Christian-based therapy group for those who wish to participate and also the Recovery Planning group where clients prepare for life after treatment.

Blake Waxler

Admissions Coordinator

As an Admissions Coordinator, Blake is dedicated to facilitating a seamless intake process for those seeking help. With a deep-rooted passion for supporting individuals through addiction recovery, he draws on his own experiences and his journey with the Heartwood program to guide others toward transformative change. Blake’s personal connection to the challenges of addiction fuels his commitment to ensuring that others receive the same life-changing support he once did. Outside of work, Blake enjoys being an active dad to his two young children, hitting the golf course, and exploring new destinations.

Grant Bleser

Alumni Coordinator

As our Alumni Coordinator, Grant brings his extroverted and kind-hearted nature to properly support our alumni in early recovery. With his enthusiasm and experience managing sober houses and working as a Recovery Advocate, Grant provides assistance in navigating obstacles and challenges during this transitional period. His main goal is to help put the fun in recovery, planning events to build and maintain a close-knit community of sober support that is pivotal for success.

Daniel Connolly

Community Integration Manager

As our Community Integration Manager, Daniel is dedicated to helping others achieve long-term sobriety With strengths in time management, physical fitness, and problem-solving, he leads with empathy, supporting individuals in building healthy, successful lives. Daniel oversees the transition process from inpatient treatment to our transitional living home while attending PHP. He is there to offer support and accountability during the time when clients are integrating back into the outside community.

Kyle Buzick

Property Manager

Kyle brings a unique blend of qualities that combine his technical expertise and hands-on problem-solving abilities with a strong sense of responsibility and dedication to delivering exceptional service and maintaining high standards of quality.  Kyle’s qualifications and personal journey uniquely position him to lead and contribute effectively optimizing property performance, ensuring regulatory compliance to the success of the treatment center, and ensuring a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for staff and clients alike.

Anthony Wadsworth

Executive Chef

As our Executive Chef, Anthony brings the passion of recovery from addiction, and the love of cooking to Heartwood‘s kitchen. His 30+ years of culinary arts brings a combination of healthy and satisfying meals to the men and staff at Heartwood Recovery. Working together with a licensed dietitian and personal trainer, the men at Heartwood enjoy balanced meals made with love.

Megan Stevens, B.A. Com., SHRM-CP

Director of Compliance & Human Resources

With over 19 years in behavioral healthcare, Megan has led admissions, operations, compliance, and HR for adolescent and adult programs. She holds a Diploma in Alcohol and Drug Counseling Studies and graduated with honors from Chapman University with a BA in Communication Studies. Megan is a member of Lambda Pi Eta and a SHRM Certified Professional. She has developed multiple treatment start-ups and assisted existing facilities with strategic expansion, achieving licensure, certification, and accreditation.
