How we create and review content
Heartwood Recovery publishes information about mental health and substance use treatment to help people understand their options. Here is how our content is made.
Who writes it
Content is written or edited by our content team and clinical staff. Each clinical page lists its author and its clinical reviewer.
Clinical review
Pages that cover a condition, treatment or medication are reviewed by a licensed professional. Our clinical reviewer is Cori Choate, LCDC, Clinical Director. Reviewers check that the information is accurate, current and consistent with accepted clinical practice. Each clinical page names its reviewer.
Sources
We rely on primary and authoritative sources such as SAMHSA, NIDA, NIMH, CDC and peer-reviewed research, and we link to the source for statistics and clinical claims.
Keeping it current
We review clinical pages regularly and update them when guidance changes.
Use of AI
We may use AI tools to help with research, outlines or first drafts. A person always edits the content, and clinical pages are reviewed by a licensed clinician. We do not use AI to diagnose, treat or give personal medical advice.
Independence
Our content is not paid for by third parties, and treatment information is not changed for advertising reasons. Sponsored content, if any, is labeled.
Corrections
If you find an error, tell us: call 737-279-7505 or email admissions@heartwoodrecovery.com. We review it and correct confirmed errors, noting the change on the page.
